      hy,

DRI doesn't work with Radeon 7500 on IBM Thinkpad R40 (2722).

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility
M7 LW [Radeon Mobility 7500] (prog-if 00 [VGA])
        Subsystem: IBM: Unknown device 0527
Flags: bus master, stepping, fast Back2Back, 66Mhz, medium
        devsel, latency 66, IRQ 9

        Capabilities: [58] AGP version 2.0
Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2

Both glxgears and tuxracer crashes with the Illegal instruction error
message. the strace output of glxgears is:

...

brk(0) = 0x80a7000

ioctl(5, 0x40186448, 0xbffffb30) = 0

If I doesn't load the DRI module into X, both glxgears and tuxracer
works, but of course without HW-redering.

It shouldn't be closed if the bug is still present in the current version
of xlibmesa-dri in Debian unstable, which is 4.3.0.dfsg.1-8.

What Michel D=E4nzer documented was a workaround, not a fix.

However, it does sound like you're reporting an old bug that has been
fixed:

xfree86 (4.3.0-3) unstable; urgency=3Dmedium

[...]

hardware acceleration from working (patch from Mesa CVS, courtesy of

The version of the xfree86 packages you were using was very old:

xfree86 (4.2.1-9) unstable; urgency=3Dhigh
[...]

Er, well, your bug report was pretty old, too, come to think of it (Tue,
Aug 05, 2003 at 07:18:45PM +0200).

This is probably a bug that should have been merged with #229984 last year,
but was overlooked.

Thanks for following up!

Closing this bug.
