Branden, I'm sorry. That email got bounced into a very strange directory
(should not have happened) and I never saw it.
Subsequently I solved the problem by replacing the dri module
for ati from an old woody install.
If you're still interested in that problem, I could probably
duplicate it and run the checks you'd find useful.
