I have also experienced problems with xine taking down X. I'm running XFCE-4
I have read this: http://xinehq.de/index.php/faq#XFREECRASH and I have followed Siggi's advice in the previous posts. After running aaxine (w/o X running)... the video file played for a few seconds and then stopped and just went to the ASCII "XINE". I tried this with a few other files and all stopped after ~5 - 10 seconds and went to the "XINE" logo. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks.
