I downgraded for now due to local site reasons. I suspect you have encountered a few fundamental support problems in XFree86 4.3.0 nv driver. I think it may be supported by the XFree86 4.4.0 release candidate from which we can backport changes, but I don't know if there will be time to do this before Debian's xfree86 packages go into a freeze for the sarge release. (Technically, Debian's nv driver in our XFree86 packages is bit fresher than XFree86 4.3.0, but not as fresh as XFree86 4.4.0 RC 3.) Are you in a position to try NVIDIA's proprietary drivers? -- G.
