Hi, I apologize for sending this to both -kernel and -x lists. The reason is that I'm not certain whether this is a kernel issue, an X issue, or (most likely) a misconfiguration problem on my part with either the kernel or X.
I run unstable, on which I have 4.3.0-7 of all X packages. Everything works fine with my Radeon Mobility M6 LY rev 0 card on a Thinkpad R32 laptop when I use kernel 2.6.0 (locally built). After I have compiled and installed kernel 2.6.5, X hangs on startup. The XFree86 log has the following two messages repeating forever (until I switch the box off), and nothing shows up on the screen. (EE) RADEON(0): RADEONCPGetBuffer: CP GetBuffer -1020 (EE) RADEON(0): GetBuffer timed out, resetting engine... The earlier lines in this logfile indicate that Direct rendering is disabled. Switching back to the 2.6.0 kernel eliminates the problem. Now, I have the same kernel config as far as DRM is concerned in both kernels.
