It's only when I try to run withought it that I think I need DRI's. I also use MergedFB, the DRI project is building out of Mesa CVS now so we may soon see the end of there 'X' binary and 2d drivers. It's important that we get all these intercompatibilitys sorted out, if only for the sake of consitancy.
