For example, running xcalc from a terminal results in the following error message: Warning: Cannot convert string "-adobe-symbol-*-*-*-*-*-120-*-*-*-*-*-*" to type FontStruct Warning: Unable to load any usable ISO8859 font Warning: Unable to load any usable ISO8859 font Segmentation fault I receive a similar error from gv (with a different font listed) and xfontsel (no font listed), and other X programs. xdm also starts up with a much bigger login dialog box than before. If I run the following command, then I no longer get the errors: xset -fp /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Type1 However, I don't see why I should have to do that. Okay. Thank you very much for following up! If the problem recurs, you can of course file a new bug report. Closing as unreproducible per submitter. --=20 G.
