The bug makes xdm rather unusable for xdmcp indirect queries. There is
no workaround but to recompile a fixed xdm (BTW, is there an easy way to
recompile xdm without a time consuming "make World"?).
I've considered this "a major effect on the usability ... without
rendering it completely unusable to everyone". I have to admit that
"major" might no longer be appropriate nowadays with pure X-terminals
getting more and more out of fashion :) Alas, I still have to support
some of them ...
Feel free to lower the severity.
