tag 211765 - help thanks I brought this problem to Jim Gettys's attention several weeks ago (in January); he has been engaged in discussions with SGI since then, and is seeking a resolution.
For those who don't know, Jim Gettys is an employee of HP Labs, and one of the "founding fathers" of the X Window System, along with Bob Scheifler and Keith Packard. Jim has experience with licensing issues as well, having successfully negotiated the liberalization of Bitstream's font license on their Vera faces (now the standard font family for GNOME, as I understand it). http://www.hpl.hp.com/features/featured_inventors/Jim_Gettys.html This issue is in Jim's capable hands, and this bug will be apprised of further developments. -- G.
