The XKB data files are conffiles, meaning that they are not always unpacked to the system exactly as shipped; dpkg tries to respect local customizations. If you reinstall xlibs with the command: # dpkg --install --force-confnew --force-confmiss xlibs_4.3.0-7_i386.deb ...does the file suddenly add the missing line? -- G.
