I ran a few more tests, and the bug does not occur when I start another instance of X running ratpoison. My guess is that the bug is due to files (libraries or otherwise) that have already been opened and are older versions. When I start a new instance, the new files are opened, and the problem does not exist. Feel free to close the bug.
