Bugs in the XFree86 X server should be filed against xserver-xfree86. Bugs in the Mesa DRI drivers should be filed against xlibmesa-dri. Because you saw no errors from the XFree86 X server log, but knew that 3D acceleration wasn't working, a bug in the Mesa DRI drivers would have been a reasonable guess. I hope this helps! -- G.
