You can exhort and quote marketing statistics all you like. The simple fact is, I have asked for modelines in the past and not gotten them. For instance, I asked for modelines for the 17" Apple PowerBook on debian-powerpc, and was answered with stony silence. It's really simple -- if you want fixes applied for hardware I don't own, give me patches. If widescreen laptop users want X to care about them, they're going to have to start caring about X. -- G.
