Hi,I'm currently experiencing problems starting up xserver using an ATI Radeon 7500.
From my research, ATI Radeon is only supported in XFree86 4.2.x and up.
So I added to /etc/apt/sources.list deb http://www.backports.org/debian woody xfree86 apt-get update apt-get install x-window-system Updated XFree86 from 4.1.0 to 4.2.1.1Now, after answering all questions to the configuration, I get the following message.
"Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration" I've attached the /var/log/XFree86.0.log file for more information.I get the following message when I run XFree86 -xf86config /root/XFree86Config.new
(EE) RADEON(0): No valid mode found for this DFP/LCD (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration. I tried both Driver "ati" and Driver "radeon" I also attached the XFree86Config-4 and the ouput file XFree86Config.dump Do I have to install the ATI "radeon" driver?
