I think I will post my problems to debian-user or someplace else shortly. Maybe I'll put it in konqueror's bugzilla since obviously whatever the problem the net result is that konqueror is failing to display the page. (And reporting mozilla bugs is futile.)
Incidentally, a number of programs, mostly gtk programs, seem to be generating this warning these days. I wonder if it could be related to my font problems.
