That's okay -- my system is working, and I've learned more about how X in Debian works, so I'm happy. I see reporting bugs as an obligation for Testing users; that is the only reason I filed a report. I figured if it happened to me it would happen to others, but if nobody else is reporting this... I spoke with another Debian user today who also reconfigures his X11 by hand -- he was very happy to learn about the new md5sum procedure. Again, thanks for your help. --Andre
