After restarting gdm the video got flaky. I had horizontal bands (very thin and multicolored) appearing anytime part of the screen was redrawn. After rebooting the entire system I got nothing but a black login screen with a mouse pointer (outlined in white) and some artifacts at the top of the screen. I downgraded back down to testing (version 4.2.1-3) and everything works fine now.
