The XFree86 driver is not (or improperly) installed. Here's an excerpt
from my log that shows the module being located and loaded:

Please make sure that the fglrx-driver package is installed.
The following command will tell you:
dpkg -s fglrx-driver
If it says it is installed, please check if
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.o exists and is readable.
For version 2.9.6 it should be 269378 bytes in size.
