Assuming this is working perfectly,
        Identifier "Configured Mouse"
        Driver "mouse"
        Option "CorePointer"
        Option "Device" "/dev/ttyS1"
        Option "Protocol" "IntelliMouse"
        Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true"
        Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Why can't I change just this:
        Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"

You see, as my computer (http://jidanni.org/comp/config_en.html) has a
PS/2 mouse jack at back, and my TrackMan Marble+ mouse has a PS/2
plug, if one removes the serial converter, I though "what a great way
to free up /dev/ttyS1 for other uses. Plug the PS/2 mouse into the
PS/2 socket."

However, as indeed moving the mouse around flashed the screen, etc.,
proving that /dev/psaux was indeed the correct port, I could not
operate as usual. http://www.xfree86.org/current/mouse4.html tells us
to try PS/2 and auto protocols. Well, trying this and that left my
screen full of dots and reboot was the only way out.

Therefore, what more/less is there to be done to XF86Config-4, please?

How about all my applications, will they behave the same if I change
the protocol?

Is there a choice of protocols, and if so do I get more features with
say "ImPS/2". Or should I stick with familiar IntelliMouse?
