since some time my nodeadkeys setting in my XF86Config does not
work anymore. I tried both handmade and automatically generated
config files (xf86cfg), with the same negativ result.

this is the correct (?) section from the XF86Config file:

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier  "Keyboard0"
        Driver      "keyboard"
        Option      "XkbRules" "xfree86"
        Option      "XkbModel" "pc102"
        Option      "XkbLayout" "de"
        Option      "XkbOptions" "ctrl:nocaps"
        Option      "XkbVariant" "nodeadkeys"
EndSection

And this is the interesting part of the startup log:

(==) ServerLayout "XFree86 Configured"
(**) |-->Screen "Screen0" (0)
(**) |   |-->Monitor "Monitor0"
(**) |   |-->Device "Card0"
(**) |-->Input Device "Mouse0"
(**) |-->Input Device "Keyboard0"
(**) Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
(**) XKB: rules: "xfree86"
(**) Option "XkbModel" "pc102"
(**) XKB: model: "pc102"
(**) Option "XkbLayout" "de"
(**) XKB: layout: "de"
(**) Option "XkbVariant" "nodeadkeys"
(**) XKB: variant: "nodeadkeys"
(**) Option "XkbOptions" "ctrl:nocaps"
(**) XKB: options: "ctrl:nocaps"
(==) Keyboard: CustomKeycode disabled

Later the setting is not mentioned anymore.

I have two other unstable system with this problem (notebook,
completly different hardware and another desktop). One runs with
current X, too, and the other runs pre1v5. all have the same
problem.

Please enlighten me. Can I supply more relevant information? I
look forward to your help.
