The package libxft-dev is not currently multi-arch installable. A comparison of the i386 and amd64 variants reveals no file conflicts. Multi-arch support is needed for packages such as libfontforge-dev and libpango1.0-dev. Please mark the package Multi-Arch: same. If it helps, I can prepare an NMU for this issue.
