Source: xorg Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
As I was using my computer and setting up my second monitor, my display locked up and would only unlock when I went to a different tty and back to X. I eventually figured out compton was locking up my graphics, so I disabled it, but other programs such as games like supertuxkart and funguloids freeze up and playback from vlc also freezes up. Even simple things like glxgears freeze up. Chrome freezes up too, but firefox does not, even when playing fullscreen video. However, if I run games with the environment variable "vblank_mode=0", games work again, even chrome and compton works, but vlc still has troubles decoding video. Also I'm running the open source radeon driver with a AMD Radeon HD 6400M card if it matters. Anyway, thanks for putting in the time to look at my problem. -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing'), (800, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.8.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages xserver-xorg depends on: ii x11-xkb-utils 7.7+3 ii xkb-data 2.18-1 ii xserver-xorg-core 2:1.19.0-2 ii xserver-xorg-input-all 1:7.7+18 ii xserver-xorg-input-libinput [xorg-driver-input] 0.22.0-1+b1 ii xserver-xorg-input-synaptics [xorg-driver-input] 1.9.0-1+b1 ii xserver-xorg-input-wacom [xorg-driver-input] 0.33.0-1+b1 ii xserver-xorg-video-ati [xorg-driver-video] 1:7.8.0-1+b1 ii xserver-xorg-video-mach64 [xorg-driver-video] 6.9.5-1+b2 ii xserver-xorg-video-r128 [xorg-driver-video] 6.10.1-2+b1 ii xserver-xorg-video-radeon [xorg-driver-video] 1:7.8.0-1+b1 ii xserver-xorg-video-vmware [xorg-driver-video] 1:13.2.1-1+b1 Versions of packages xserver-xorg recommends: ii libgl1-mesa-dri 13.0.2-1
