Tags: patch I was able to reproduce this bug and found a patch in the upstream git
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-vmware/patch/?id=32562129750077a23f26f2e69adc8403eb24bf3f I did a rebuild with this cherry-pick and it solved the problem for me: Xserver was hanging while shutdown (killed by systems), X server hangs when resizing vmware window. Many thanks to Hilary Greenhow for digging into the problem, it helped a lot to identify this cherry pick.
