I believe this is actually a bug with Xvfb, as reported elsewhere; https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=823410 Which includes a like to the upstream bug; https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26391 I haven't had time to test the patch at; http://bugzillafiles.novell.org/attachment.cgi?id=542812 But I was also able to reproduce the issue as follows; $ Xvfb :1.0 -screen 0 1024x768x24 +extension RANDR & But if you run xdpyinfo, RANDR is not on the list; $ xdpyinfo -display :1.0 ... number of extensions: 24 BIG-REQUESTS Composite DAMAGE DOUBLE-BUFFER DPMS DRI3 GLX Generic Event Extension MIT-SCREEN-SAVER MIT-SHM Present RECORD RENDER SECURITY SGI-GLX SHAPE SYNC X-Resource XC-MISC XFIXES XInputExtension XKEYBOARD XTEST XVideo ... $ chromium --display :1.0 Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":1.0".
