Just as an extra data point (and I'm not sure this is the only bug this is appropriate for as there are several cairo2/nouveau related bugs) I recently built an xserver-xorg-video-nouveau based off the 1.0.3 upstream release and have found it to significantly improve things on my Quadro 2000M [GF106]. There are several EXA related fixed since 1.0.2.
