When running freedoom/prboom for the first time and quitting, it goes
full-screen at a lower resolution than usual and does not restore the
normal resolution afterwards. This might have something to do with the X

This bug seems to be fixed now, with both the testing and experimental
versions of xorg/nouveau. Not sure what was causing the issue.
