Hi Julien, with the synaptics version 1.5.99 my old /etc/X11/xorg.conf containing the "Protocol" "auto-dev" option works. I downloaded the archive
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-input-synaptics/snapshot/xf86-input-synaptics-0cd5a77c3a455e942929eb4d5412fa51630ed13f.tar.bz2 compiled and installed synaptics_drv.so and restarted the X server. In /var/log/Xorg.0.log it now reads [170712.540] (II) LoadModule: "synaptics" [170712.540] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/synaptics_drv.so [170712.540] (II) Module synaptics: vendor="X.Org Foundation" [170712.540] compiled for 1.11.2.902, module version = 1.5.99 [170712.540] Module class: X.Org XInput Driver [170712.540] ABI class: X.Org XInput driver, version 13.0 [170712.540] (II) Using input driver 'synaptics' for 'ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad' [170712.540] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/synaptics_drv.so [170712.540] (**) ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad: always reports core events [170712.540] (**) Option "Protocol" "auto-dev" [170712.540] (**) Option "Device" "/dev/input/event5" [170712.540] (--) synaptics: ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad: x-axis range 32 - 544 etc. Thanks for your care.
