FWIW, I've had similar problems since upgrading to kernel 2.6.38, both on unstable with x-x-v-i 2:2.15.0-3 and testing with 2:2.13.0-6. The symptom is freezing of most keypresses and mouseclicks until focus is moved to another window. The recent unstable kernel upgrade to 2.6.39-1 helps somewhat -- now get mostly corrupted or missing text and flickering.
