Hi,
I experience the same problem (I believe) on a ThinkPad x61s with an
Intel GM965/GL960 graphics adapter.
I can confirm the xpdf behavior. Additionally,
* moving a window over the hands of an xclock
* moving a window over the scrollbar arrows of an rxvt
also causes artifacts.
I use a standard Debian Squeeze 2.6.32-5-amd64 kernel.
The problem occurs with Squeeze's xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.13.0-6
package, as well as with manually built
libdrm-2.4.23-3/xserver-xorg-video-intel-2.14.0-4 and
libdrm-2.4.24-1/xserver-xorg-video-intel-2.14.901-1+exp1.
Specifying
Option "Shadow" "true"
in xorg.conf works around it for me, but if I understand the manpage
correctly that disables GPU acceleration.
