reassign 286135 xserver-xfree86 severity 286135 important thanks AFAIK, X server crashes are always X server bugs, not bugs in the clients that trigger them (though a crash may indicate a secondary bug in the client), so I believe this bug should be reassigned to the X server package. (I assume this is xserver-xfree86 in your case, although your report doesn't say.)
Also, your bug appears to be fairly hardware-specific, as most users cannot reproduce it; which means that, in spite of the data loss concern, this is not a release-critical bug as we cannot guarantee that all hardware combinations will be free of problems. I imagine the X maintainers will want to ask you more specifics about exactly what hardware you are running.
