I am also experiancing the same problem after the update from testing with xserver-xorg-video-openchrome 1:0.2.904+svn842-1.
At the GDM login screen X just freezes. A hard reboot is required. In conjunction with other X freeze issues I reported this problem recently. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=583186 I have fallen back to using the vesa driver for now in xorg.conf. Meanwhile looks like recently there is a lot of people experiencing Xorg freezes.
