Hi, A note to let you know that I've tested the vanilla kernel, and at least v2.6.36-rc3 seems free of the VGA corruption that led me to write this bug report. (that kernel version suffers instead from a couple of other bugs on my graphics card: no mouse cursor until the first suspend/resume cycle, and 600ms freezes every 10 seconds -- I believe that at least the second of these is fixed in the git tip beyond 2.6.36-rc3.
This means that the problem described in this bug is now solved for my purposes; unfortunately, it doesn't mean that the problem is solved in squeeze...
