The cursor behaves as if this has not occured. This has always occured when the system is running xlockmore started by xautolock. I'd suspect that this might be an alternate symptom of bug 119474, but I don't have xlockmore-gl installed, only standard xlockmore. Switching virtual terminals does not cure the symptom, but exiting and restarting X does. Perhaps it is related to the power managment on this laptop. New info: With kernel 2.4.22 and acpi enabled, this no longer happens. The dell bios and acpi were incompatable at previous kernel versions.
