Package: xserver-s3 Version: 3.3.6-44 I'm using Debian 3.0 stable x86 on a system with a Number Nine 9FX motion 531 PCI VGA card. That card uses an S3 868 chip. Using dpkg-reconfigure xserver-s3 yields an XF86Config with the following output:
(--) S3: PCI: 868 rev 0, Linear FB @ 0x10000000 (--) S3: chipset: 868 rev. 3 (--) S3: chipset driver: newmmio (--) S3: card type: PCI (--) S3: videoram: 2048k (--) S3: Detected an ATT 20C498/21C498 RAMDAC (--) S3: Ramdac type: att20c498 (--) S3: Ramdac speed: 135 MHz (--) S3: clocks: 25.17 28.32 28.32 0.00 25.21 28.32 28.32 28.32 (--) S3: clocks: 25.17 28.32 28.32 28.32 25.17 28.32 28.32 28.32 (--) S3: Maximum allowed dot-clock: 100.000 MHz Note that there are only two clock frequencies. Consequently, all I get is 640x480. One needs to manually add ClockChip "icd2061a" to the XF86 config. Then one gets: (--) S3: PCI: 868 rev 0, Linear FB @ 0x10000000 (--) S3: chipset: 868 rev. 3 (--) S3: chipset driver: newmmio (--) S3: card type: PCI (--) S3: videoram: 2048k (--) S3: Detected an ATT 20C498/21C498 RAMDAC (--) S3: Ramdac type: att20c498 (--) S3: Ramdac speed: 135 MHz (**) S3: Using ICD2061A programmable clock (--) S3: Maximum allowed dot-clock: 100.000 MHz (**) S3: Mode "1024x768": mode clock = 94.500 (**) S3: Mode "800x600": mode clock = 56.300 (**) S3: Mode "640x480": mode clock = 36.000 -- Georg Schwarz http://home.pages.de/~schwarz/ [EMAIL PROTECTED] +49 177 8811442 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
