Subject: xlibmesa3: no textures loading with my MG400
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
X-Mailer: bug 3.3.10.1
Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Package: xlibmesa3
Version: 4.1.0-17
Severity: important

current version shows no textured surfaces, uses instead blank color or erratic noise
instead. makes some screen savers annoying to watch, among other problems. examples:
/usr/lib/xscreensaver/boxed (from xscreensaver-gl) shows box bottom as a bunch of wild
pulsating stripes, while 3ddesktop shows white surfaces instead of desktop snapshot.

error dumped by "boxed" screen saver to terminal:

Failed to upload texture, sz 174592
Memory heap (nil):
  heap == 0
End of memory blocks

I upgraded temporarily to the experimental 4.2 version. I had textures but no hardware
acceleration, the system drew to a halt, but the screen savers and 3ddesk showed
correctly (although only 1 frame per 5-60 seconds), but that's for a different report
:)

It's hard to use textures with no space for them. Try a lower depth or
virtual resolution (or my current xlibmesa-gl1-dri-trunk package, the
driver in which can use AGP texturing - it's better to leave some on
card memory available for texures though).
