That bit about virtual terminals reminds me of a nearly trivial problem I have with my x86 install. For some reason, when I upgraded to 4.3.0 via Stone's unofficial repository, control-alt-F1 no longer would switch to the console from X. Control-alt-F2 through 6 still works just fine, and if I switch to another virtual console first I can switch to the first console from there. It's totally inexplicable.
I don't mean to "me too", but since it's on a different architecture I thought I'd mention that *something* seems to be up with virtual terminal switching in the new packages. -Andrew On Thu, 2003-04-03 at 08:30, Dagfinn Ilmari Mannsåker wrote: > Hi guys (especially DanielS), > > I have finally gotten around to testing the 4.3.0-0ds3v1 packages I > built for sparc, and I've noticed one thing: > > xserver-xfree86 does some weird stuff with the keyboard: > > - 'l' sends the same keycode as 'b', and ',' sends the same as 'v' > (identical xev output). > > - Ctrl-Alt-F<n> does not switch virtual terminals. > > Downgrading xserver-xfree86 to 4.2.1-6 fixes both problems. > > This is with xlibs{,-data} and xbase-clients 4.3.0-0ds3v1 installed > after purging the corresponding 4.2.1-6 versions, and the following > keyboard section in XF86Config-4: > > Section "InputDevice" > Identifier "Generic Keyboard" > Driver "keyboard" > Option "CoreKeyboard" > Option "XkbRules" "sun" > Option "XkbModel" "type5_euro" > Option "XkbLayout" "no" > EndSection > > -- > ilmari > -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
