Package: x-window-system Version: ? Severity: normal The log file is attached.
I have a fresh installation of Debian (3.0), and I typed 'startx', but the server crashed as you can see in the log file. (First the screen flickered and then it returned to the command line). It says that I don't have enough memory, but that shouldn't be right, because I have 112 MB RAM and almost 200 MB swap. Maybe you can tell me how to check how much RAM I have (well, how much ram debian says I have). Another problem can be that I have selected vga for video card, while I have an S3 compatible card. How to change this? Actually I don't expect this is the main problem, but you'll know this better than I. Thanks for your help. Frank -- http://fastmail.fm - Same, same, but different...
