Package: xterm Version: 4.2.1-3 Severity: normal I couldn't belive this was happening at first, but I have reproduced it 4 times now.
* Run an xterm or two, and verify that text highlights as expected; starting from the letter clicked on and extending up or down to the point the mouse is over when dragging with the mouse. Stop dragging and click on the xterm once to clear the highlight. * run "date -s "1:50pm" (time was 1:52 pm when I first did this) * Now highlight some text. Try to clear the highlight by clicking outside it, and the highlight instead expends to cover the point clicked. Very annoying. * hwlcock --hctosys and watch highlighting return to normal. I'd suspect some kind of bogus timestamp and/or something nasty in the X protocol. My system clock is set to GMT, my timezone is -0500 from GMT right now. I don't reproduce this behavior in other X apps I tried: xedit, galeon, and xchat's main window. I do get some weird behavior with highliughted text in xchat's text entry field after setting the time back. Oh, and if I just set the time back say, 30 seconds, it seems that after approximatly 30 seconds, the messed up highlighting behavior goes away. I'm not sure if the correspondance is perfect. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux dragon 2.4.19 #1 Thu Sep 5 18:51:06 EDT 2002 i586 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages xterm depends on: ii debconf 1.2.12 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.1-3 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libfreetype6 2.1.2-9 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libncurses5 5.2.20020112a-8 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libxaw7 4.2.1-3 X Athena widget set library ii xlibs 4.2.1-3 X Window System client libraries -- no debconf information joey@dragon:~>xrdb -query |grep -i xterm XTerm*Scrollbar.DrawBorder: 0 XTerm*Scrollbar.Thickness: 18 XTerm*VT100*color0: black XTerm*VT100*color1: red3 XTerm*VT100*color10: LimeGreen XTerm*VT100*color11: yellow XTerm*VT100*color12: SteelBlue XTerm*VT100*color13: magenta XTerm*VT100*color14: cyan XTerm*VT100*color15: white XTerm*VT100*color2: green4 XTerm*VT100*color3: yellow4 XTerm*VT100*color4: blue4 XTerm*VT100*color5: magenta3 XTerm*VT100*color6: cyan4 XTerm*VT100*color7: gray55 XTerm*VT100*color8: gray25 XTerm*VT100*color9: red XTerm*VT100*colorBD: green XTerm*VT100*colorUL: yellow XTerm*VT100*geometry: 80x25 XTerm*background: black XTerm*boldFont: fixed XTerm*boldMode: false XTerm*colorULMode: on XTerm*cursorColor: Grey XTerm*customization: -color XTerm*fontMenu*background: #c0c0c0 XTerm*fontMenu*foreground: black XTerm*foreground: white XTerm*mainMenu*background: #c0c0c0 XTerm*mainMenu*foreground: black XTerm*reverseVideo: false XTerm*reverseWrap: true XTerm*saveLines: 2000 XTerm*scrollBar: false XTerm*scrollbar.background: #c0c0c0 XTerm*termName: xterm XTerm*underLine: off XTerm*utmpInhibit: false XTerm*vtMenu*background: #c0c0c0 XTerm*vtMenu*foreground: black -- see shy jo
