Is there a reason that you didn't contact the list mentioned in the
message that you quoted? That's where you'll find the people who can
help with this, not on the website list. (Some of us read both, but the
web team are only responsible for one of the sites covered by the
rule.)

The issue isn't that your browser is less well-known, it's that it's
claiming to be a several years out-of-date version of a different
browser. While that /should/ be fine, it's also a claim that has been
made by a huge number of abusive clients that have rendered multiple
debian.org web properties unusable over the past day or two.

We're working on improving the detections so that the blunt user agent
block can be replaced by something better but, as you surmised, in the
meantime it is helping to keep multiple of our web properties
operational in the face of overwhelming abusive behaviour. Apologies
for the inconvenience in the meantime.
