CRB Logo Copyright Royalty Board CRB News December 2, 2013 Issue 102 * * *COPYRIGHT ROYALTY JUDGES ANNOUNCE COST-OF-LIVING ADJUSTMENT FOR PERFORMANCE OF MUSICAL COMPOSITIONS BY COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES (78 FR 71501)* The Copyright Royalty Judges are announcing a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) of 2 percent in the royalty rates that colleges, universities, and other educational institutions not affiliated with National Public Radio pay under section 118 of the Copyright Act for use of published nondramatic musical compositions in the repertory of the performing rights organization SESAC. The rates take effect December 30, 2013. The COLA is based on the change in the Consumer Price Index from October 2012 to October 2013, and the rates apply to the period January 1, 2014, through December 31, 2014.
