This seems because lenny is no more supported and as the website doesn't know any distribution of that name (anymore), it expects lenny to be a package name, too. Lenny is now in the Debian archive of end-of-life releases on http://archive.debian.org/. The file you're looking for is now at http://archive.debian.org/debian/pool/main/b/base-files/base-files_5lenny11_i386.deb You can also add the following lines to your sources.list to get packages for Lenny through apt instead of manually downloading them: deb http://debian.ethz.ch/debian-archive/debian/ lenny main deb-src http://debian.ethz.ch/debian-archive/debian/ lenny main I though recommend to upgrade to Squeeze on the long run as Lenny has no more security support.
