It's nice that http://www.debian.org/misc/laptops/ exists and it's a welcome start, but one thing missing from most other Linux on Laptops guides is consideration of the Debian Free Software Guidelines. Linux does work well on a lot of laptops if you use non-free drivers from madwifi to fglrx for this and that. What would be very wonderful (and I don't know where it's coming from) is some guidance about what product lines and chipsets in laptops can be made to work well with only Free software.
