Reasoning: I translated the debconf po file for the package dailystrips, since I found it listed under: *Packages with po-debconf support and for which translation is to do* (http://www.debian.org/intl/l10n/po-debconf/de.html#i18n) After translating I wanted to send the file as a bugreport. Then I saw that someone else already translated dailystrips and commited a wishlist bug report (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=251947). So my work was useless in the end :( Obviously one also has to check the BTS before starting on a new pot file. However, this is said nowhere. jens --------------------------------------- Received: (at 273304-done) by bugs.debian.org; 24 Nov 2004 22:35:35 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Nov 24 14:35:35 2004 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from main.uucpssh.org [212.27.33.224] by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1CX5jb-0007Y4-00; Wed, 24 Nov 2004 14:35:35 -0800 Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by main.uucpssh.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6D20C6846D for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Wed, 24 Nov 2004 23:35:33 +0100 (CET) Received: by main.uucpssh.org (Postfix, from userid 10) id 098CF690D9; Wed, 24 Nov 2004 23:35:32 +0100 (CET) Received: by localhost.localdomain (Postfix, from userid 1000) id DC0BB23F19; Wed, 24 Nov 2004 23:34:28 +0100 (CET) Date: Wed, 24 Nov 2004 23:34:28 +0100 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Bug#273304: www.debian.org: www.d.o/intl/l10n/po-debconf/pot should mention to contact the BTS before translating Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.6+20040907i From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Denis Barbier) X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new-20030616-p10 (Debian) at uucpssh.org Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-6.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 X-Spam-Level: On Sat, Sep 25, 2004 at 11:00:25AM +0200, Jens Nachtigall wrote: > Package: www.debian.org > Severity: minor > Tags: l10n > > > I suggest adding a comment like this to > http://www.debian.org/intl/l10n/po-debconf/pot > and http://www.debian.org/intl/l10n/po-debconf/README-trans > > vvvvvvvvvvvv > Before you translate a po file, make sure that there isn't already a > translated po file for this package > (http://www.debian.org/intl/l10n/po-debconf/<lang>) and nobody send a > wischlist bug > report with a translated po file to the BTS in the meantime (check the > link from the package name on > http://www.debian.org/intl/l10n/po-debconf/pot for this). > ^^^^^^^^^^^^ Hi Jens, http://www.debian.org/intl/l10n/po-debconf/README-trans was updated few days ago (I added external links to the text we had discussed), and I just replaced this text in 'pot' by a link to README-trans. The latter will be online in few hours, and I am closing this bug now. Thanks for your help. Denis
