Installation of Debian

I need to know .S why Debian was installed on my computer.  I am in Florida and wanted to check my email in Michigan.  I have never had any problem but when I tried to check it yesterday (1/14/04) and could not get into it because I had something installed which said "WELCOME TO YOUR NEW HOME IN CYBERSPACE".  It also said "This is a placer holder page installed by Debian release of the Apache web server package because no home page was installed on this host.  I do not want Debian and wish to have it uninstalled - but cannot find a place to uninstall - meanwhile my email is piling up in Michigan.   Please help me      Marlene Merrill    email: [EMAIL PROTECTED].   P.S.  If I am not containing the right people please send me the email where I can get some action.
