It built without that change in .wmlrc on my machine, but I couldn't
get any translated strings in the menu bar on the front page. I still
don't see them, so I guess it must be because I don't have those locales
generated.

Yes, the translator is currently lacking the ability to directly commit to
CVS, firewalled off. I'll hold off until this becomes possible, I don't
want to add another unmaintained translation (Slovene anyone?).
