Actual URL: http://cgi.debian.org/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?<...> Select an interesting match. *View the page of package information and dependencies. Actual URL: http://www.debian.org/Packages/<dist>/<pack>/<package>.html Perhaps download some related packages, too. Then click Download. **View the page of download locations. Actual URL: http://cgi.debian.org/cgi-bin/download.pl All of the locations marked with *, but especially the one marked with **, are ones where you are somewhat likely to want to perform a new search instead of, or in addition to, proceeding down the path outlined above. The last one more than the others is a situation where you are likely to want to search again, because when you have downloaded one package (in Netscape, you click one of the download locations and the package is downloaded to your local disk), you might have other packages (or search expressions) you want to search for using the search form again. You can bookmark the packages.debian.org page, of course, or manipulate your browser to go back in its history and revisit that page, but with many browsers this is not entirely something you can do without moving your hand away from the keyboard and/or thinking about how to do it. Probably the whole package installation hoopla would be a lot easier with something like debget and/or suitable apt guru options, but I haven't had the time to investigate that. Anyway, even if there is a good package for helping you with this, the web pages should not be needlessly cumbersome to use. Thanks in advance ... -- System Information Debian Release: 2.0 Kernel Version: Linux away 2.0.34 #1 Sun Feb 28 21:48:09 EET 1999 i586 unknown --------------------------------------- Received: (at 63519-done) by bugs.debian.org; 27 Oct 2000 17:47:08 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Oct 27 12:47:08 2000 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from cibalia.gkvk.hr [::ffff:161.53.211.3] by master.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.12 1 (Debian)) id 13pDas-00064S-00; Fri, 27 Oct 2000 12:47:07 -0500 Received: from joy by cibalia.gkvk.hr with local (Exim 3.12 #1 (Debian)) id 13pDfI-0004WQ-00; Fri, 27 Oct 2000 19:51:40 +0200 Date: Fri, 27 Oct 2000 19:51:40 +0200 From: Josip Rodin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Martin Michlmayr <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Bug#63519: www.debian.org: Please add link back to search form from pa Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii User-Agent: Mutt/1.0.1i In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; from [EMAIL PROTECTED] on Fri, Oct 27, 2000 at 11:14:23AM +0100 Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] On Fri, Oct 27, 2000 at 11:14:23AM +0100, Martin Michlmayr wrote: > > Visit http://packages.debian.org/ > > *View the search results. > > *View the page of package information and dependencies. > > **View the page of download locations. > > > All of the locations marked with * are ones where you are somewhat > > likely to want to perform a new search > > There are links back to the search page on the results and the > download page.
