No, dude, look again.  index.wml doesn't have any subroutine
definitions at all.  Maybe your local CVS area has some sticky tags or
some such?

Feh.  I hate slices.  I just put a variable on the top of index.wml,
which is translated, like so:

<: # used to join "Install Manual _for_ i386", for instance
   $indirect_object_conjoiner = 'for'; :>

No offense, but slice sucks.
