That works! :-) (I shouldn't have expected anything less from our local glibc guru. :-) A minor complication though: the Makefile is generated from a very small Makefile.PL, and I think the "-lc" comes from the PERL_ARCHIVE variable, probably defined somewhere in Perl's Config or MakeMaker or whatnot. Yikes.
