A better example of moving the language independent portion of the pages into a separate file has been created using the y2k pages. The .wml files in the y2k directory are translated as usual, but they include ../../english/y2k/file.data which includes the actual y2k status information.
The only thing needed besides translating the .wml file as usual, is that slices for the status keywords used in the table need to be added to the .data file (only once, of course). After a language switches to the new format, all updates to the y2k information will be seen by all translations automatically and with no action needed on the part of the translators. Of course, that is not true if one of the .wml files is modified. Jay Treacy
