Just as a data point: In Hamburg there were also people in the room (either standing in the "circle" or sitting outside of it at the tables) who chose not to say something themselves. That was perfectly fine, and they still heard what others were working on. I guess there's no single-fits-them-all method, so the more we try (standups, badges, maps, other things), the better.
